| 4.0 excellent | ZippaThaRippa | September 28th 15 | An album that suffers from never being able to pick up the fucking pace and produce memorable moments. Seed of Cain is a sick track. The rest are overlong exercises in forgettable plug and chug riffs confined by crawling tempos and boring drums.

| 3.0 good | mofongotron | September 25th 15 | A definite change of direction for the band. Concise bursts of hardcore-tinged energy are now replaced with a
more brooding, thundering 90s death metal vibe. A switch to a more death metal vocal delivery makes Black
Breath's sound a bit less distinguishable from other bands of similar genres. Riffage is great, with lots of good
grooves, but extended passages and song structure rob this album of some of the power of previous releases.
Whereas Sentenced to Life could be visualized as the energetic thrasher kid tearing up the pit, Slaves Beyond
Death seems more like the long-time metalhead standing in the back, slowly bobbing their head to groovy slam.

| 4.0 excellent | OwenMz | October 18th 15 | Black Breath commit to a full blown transition from blackened hardcore to traditional death metal act. While not the most mind-blowing & original take on the death metal, the record has memorable moments, decent riffs, better vocal dynamics and is a more enjoyable listen than previous outings.

| 3.5 great | BtwntheAKIRAndMe | September 29th 15 | High 7 out of 10: Black Breath removes the thrash element on "Sentenced to Life" and replaces it with more sludge-influence. This isn't bad on their part at all, as this is still a very solid LP. However, I will say that I thought they did their death-thrash metal combo much better.

| 3.5 great | cvlts | September 23rd 15 | The extended song lengths for this type of riff-heavy metal (averaging nearly six minutes a song) can get a bit taxing after repeated listens. Some riffs work better than others, there are a few lulls in between songs, and the lack of breakdowns is a bit of a bummer-- but overall this is a quality album that features many new ideas while still maintaining the core of what makes Black Breath such a great band.
