Undeniably the best mixture of metalcore and Post-Rock of its time.
,,10.21'' might be conceptually simple and straightforward idea, but perfectly executed idea. Mixture of harsh, complex metalcore music with some Post-rock passages and atmosphere has never been done this tastefully. Right from the start the album opens up with instrumental ,,Intro'' that hits with unorthodox textures, then ,,With Paper Wings'' kicked in and I was sold on the record, this song has 3 fairly different and unique passages, opening up with the first 2 minutes of top-tier metalcore, then switches into melodic dreamy post hardcore with some cleans and ends with dark piano, and all of this worked together so well. ,,Laura Palmer'' ,,The Nothing'' ,,Porcelin Heart Promise'' ,,Shallow Like Sand'' ,,November's neverending'' are written in much more ,,Typical'' fashion, linear structure, couple of phenomenal slower passages to add some atmosphere and top tier metalcore with some ,,Math Rock-y'' drumming. Though the most unique part of this album would be the instrumental side, the math rock inspired interlude in the middle of the album or Post-rock powerhouse ''S/T''rYeah 10.21 has some minor problems, but every album has. Maybe the vocals aren't necesarilly unique or memorable, same goes for the Lyrics. Maybe the production is sometimes clumsy and the closer ,,An Ocean Apart'' is slightly dissapointing end, but other than that FLAWLESS
