V is probably Wavves most mature album at this point, and I think it's a major step up from the uneven Afraid of Heights. Their is still that unique combo of Beach Boys and Nirvana influence, the songs seem to be more pop oriented, and the hooks are way more consistent. I feel like the riffs are simple still, but there are a couple that I felt I've never heard before. I've never really heard anything like the riff on My Head Hurts. The album is really short, and the songs mostly have similar structures, which can make the music repetitive and forgettable in some spots, which happens with this band. It's definitely poppier than earlier efforts, but it seems that what Wavves has always been working towards, and I don't see a problem with that, as I am patiently waiting for guitar based music to make it's way back to radio. Solid record that amazes in some parts, best songs are Way too Much, All the Same, My Head Hurts, and Flamezesez.
