| 4.0 excellent | DatsNotDaMetulz | August 13th 15 | http://www.rocksins.com/reviews/soulfly-archangel-album-review-25364/ for my views on it.
A word to the wise though, unless you're a completionist/fan of the Soulfly instrumentals (like I
am)/want the bonus DVD, avoid the Special Edition of the album. A You Suffer cover (introduced by
Max's kinda annoying grandson) and an alternate lyrics version of Deceiver are all that await you
aside from the traditional instrumental track.

| 4.0 excellent | KevinKC | January 29th 17 | Their best album since Dark Ages. We Sold our Soul to metal is a big joke but if you're old enough to press the skip button the rest is very good.

| 4.0 excellent | Jared Floryan | August 19th 15 | Soulfly seem quite happy with living life hard and selling their souls to metal. The band's tenth and newest studio album Archangel has the power to slay for days and it's rarely inconsistent. Elements of black, doom, and thrash are thrown into the mix in a mostly cohesive manner, and the instrumentation is downright menacing up close and from a long distance; the record's foreboding, theatrical atmosphere doesn't even hurt in this regard. There are some cheesy moments to be found, but aside from that, Archangel's a solid addition to Soulfly's discography. You as the victims must now do what Max Cavalera is incapable of doing: please exit the music business. Angelboros recommends: "Archangel," "Shamash," "Bethlehem's Blood," "Titans," and "Mother of Dragons".

| 4.0 excellent | ngk44 | August 13th 15 | Only just finished my first listen, and I can already tell you that this is easily their best work since Dark Ages. The blackened death metal influences really show on some songs, and the biblical imagery adds a lot to the album's dark, epic atmosphere. "We Sold Our Souls to Metal" is kind of terrible, but it honestly doesn't detract from the other nine songs. "Live Life Hard!" has some pretty silly lyrics, but the riff makes up for it. I definitely feel like this is some of Max Cavalera's most focused songwriting in a long time. Even the weakest tracks are good in a cathartic, "fun dumb" kind of way.
Overall, this album is a very solid four.
