On the one hand it's a super chill, casual electronic album that's really easy to listen to. On the other hand, it's not a very gripping listen; it ends up being like most post-rock and ambient out there that is nice to listen to, but doesn't feel like it has much substance. There are no "wow" or that's cool!" moments that would justify a higher rating. It's a pleasing listen, but it's sort of just *there*. Excellent background music, though.

Just finally got around to getting this album the other day after knowing of its existence for years and having it recommended to me. It did not disappoint, and is full of groovy jams and tasty licks. One of the catchiest instrumental albums I have ever heard.

Nearly flawless mixture of post-rock and pop-ambient electronica, and some incredible, searing synth melodies and sweeping, buzzing guitar riffs combine to form one of the most unique sounding records I've ever heard. Ratatat is a music about they joy of playing music. Listen for yourself, and you won't be disappointed.
