An epic collage of manymanymany layers of harmonized vocals, glitchy textures, idm-esque beats (without the structure, ofc!) and an overarching deconstructed vibe. This is music that surprisingly manages to create beauty out of a material so disjointed it sounds like the disintegrated loops of future music. Scratch that awkward asmr piece and you've got what your grand-grandkiddos will listen to if there still is a planet by then.

Put the mind to work while making productive use of all the other senses as San Francisco-based composer, sound artist, and musician Holly Herndon's 2015 megalith is present in the background. Lasting a total of 49 minutes, the 10-track studio album titled Platform contorts, soothes, and even spits at whomever is listening as the album utilizes a smorgasbord of sonic techniques and vocal processing with wild abandon. What the record lacks in accessibility, it more than makes up for concerning general headiness alongside next level songcraft. This is an engrossing affair that requires replay after replay in order to uncover little nuances which weren't known to the consumer on the first session. I'm going to touch you now.

Dear god, this album is so complex and intricate and so beautiful as well. I bet that if Lonely At The Top wasn't on here (that track makes me feel uncomfortable to the core) this would be a 5.

Twitchy twisted electronic that is supremely suitable for the internet/ADD-age - i.e. disorienting, filled with ideas, and maybe too busy for its own good. A seemingly boundless array of voices/computerized et ceteras/inscrutabilities zipping in and out of your periphery before getting sucked back into the sound-collage vortex does its best to engulf any musical directness that may be buried in the depths - though there are a few definitively melodic moments, on others you really have to dig for it, and some are just plain out there. The fluidity of these arrangements can be surprising considering the complexity and celerity of 'em, and the vague witticism is nice too - like when the faux-Greek yogurt ad is followed up with a squishy flood of slop or when armor-clad horses run through the mix; and of course the blush-worthy skit turned intimate massage+pep talk, which brings turmoil relief, feelings of increased self-worth, and suckling noises.
