Fugazi was apparently a bit of a struggle to finish in the studio with Fish quarreling with new drummer Jonathan Mover over the direction of the album. Consequently Mover was replaced with Ian Mosley. This is synth heavy material presented here and would have benefited with far more presence from Steve Rothery's guitar work. The topics of assassins, failed friendships and marriages are predominant and a clear indicator that personal world of the band's lyricist was beginning to crumble.

To my disappointment, Fugazi does not often get the recognition and the applaud it deserves. I find this an inch shorter than Miscplaced Childhood but this is of personal preference rather than the level of its quality. Fish's lyrics are so dynamic and descriptive that you often admire such inspiration. Trewavas' vibrant bass lines and Mosley's thunderous drumming are supporting the rhythmic part very profoundly while Kelly's synthesizers are so seductive that they manage to give a perfect texture to the overall output. What is also great about Fugazi is that each song tells it's own story, sometimes very straightforward and sometimes magnificently masked behind Fish's metaphorical words.

Good stuff! Maybe not really my taste (especially the vocals), but it was enjoyable! Pretty synths, and guitars. It is one of those albums I'd use as background music when some friends come over.

I thought Script was very sixth form student and Misplaced Childhood a touch self pitying,
whereas Fugazi has a real edge to it.
PS: If you go to see Fish live, don't request Grendel. "I'm not going to play a 26 minute
concept track with a band who've never fucking played it!"

Well it is the only Marillion album i have and on vinyl, I think it is phenomenal but there is bits that are a little repititive but still a fantastic album, and one of the best i have gotten in a long time.

Marillion's debut is probably more intense however Fugazi still remains a very good effort. The title track is an absolute masterpiece.

"Punch And Judy" is one of the best Marillion songs ever. Assassing is an excellent song, and the last two minutes of Incubus are heaven to my ears. The rest is in my opinion easily forgettable, so these couple of songs that I didn't mention really make the average of the album a lot lower. Too bad.
