I remember the first time I heard "Earl", back when Odd Future was really starting to blow up and everyone around my town was wearing Supreme hats and constantly quoting lyrics off of "Yonkers". Things were simpler then, for both me and for Earl. As the years go by, he has drifted further and further away from the Odd Future collective, and though he is still technically a member, he's really on the fringe. Gone are the violently entertaining raps of his eponymous debut, substituted now for more introspective and story-telling lyrical escapades. The lo-fi production that permeates Odd Future records is still very much alive, but utilized in a different way. Earl was quoted as saying that he wanted the beats on the record, made by himself under the persona RandomBlackDude, to sound like they're melting. That's exactly what happens here, and it fits rather well with his trademark monotone rapping style. Though the album is a bit samey, Earl openly invites you to explore more thoroughly the personal side of him that he expressed somewhat on Doris, and it makes for an interesting, yet strangely mesmerizing experience.

The underproduced, somber tone of this release coupled with Earl Sweatshirt's ready, but secretly unwilling rap game makes I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside out to be an emotionally impressive listen. While it only lasts for a half hour, you feel as if the album is longer than it lets on; because Earl's grown, this is actually not a horrid sight.

As a pretty big fan of Some Rap Songs and Solace, I can't say I'm disappointed, but for me, I think that Earl hasn't fully reached the point where his style is defined. It's definitely a little more over the place, but he's still an insane rhymer and a great lyricist. He's going up in my rappers ranking. I also feel like Earl would work so much better alone than with features, but maybe it's just me.

Earl Sweatshirt always walked in the shadow of Tyler, the Creator and the rest of his Odd Future teammates. However, this was never a justification for criticizing or putting the work at a low level. Earl has always done good works and good collaborative performances on other albums, but he was lacking something authorial to finally show the world that he can do more. And it all happened in "I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside". The future will be bright for this musician.

It's just so...forgettable. It's too short to leave much of an emotional impact on me. There are some clever lines, Off Top is pretty good, but this isn't anything spectacular. It doesn't stand out to me at all, I'm sorry. But it still comes off as very respectable. Nothing on this album is bad or poorly produced, I guess it's just not my cup of tea.

Earl Sweatshirt's most recent full length is an oddity. It had an out of the blue surprise release at a time when people had all but given up on Odd Future's ragtag alumni. I had very little interest in hearing more from Earl after Doris, but I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside left me pleasantly surprised. It's artfulness was not immediately apparent to me, but with more time and more listens this album's dark, moody atmosphere and depressing lyrical tone captivated me. I am incredibly impressed with Earl's progression as an artist and look forward to all of his future endeavors.

yes, it lacks replay value because of its overly dark mood and earl's lack of energy doesn't help either but some of these tracks are really introspective and it's easy to relate to what he's saying! add that to earl's incredible lyricism and wordplay and you have another good release from him. 4

An album painted with cynicism in all aspects, from the album cover art, lyrics to the production. The lo-fi atmosphere adds to the anti-social mindset of Earl. A very mature and straight to the point LP. Earl opens up on his recent darker moments of his life and leaves no filler.

The missing link between Earl (the mixtape) and Doris. His voice is finally less monotone sounding. There is a relaxed feeling in this album. While it still has its dark parts, I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside is overall a much more fun listen than Doris. The features are much better as well.

Great album, Vince Staples and Earl need to make a full length project together, they work really well. The beats one this were great, and really good rapping and lyrics, just kinda disappointing that it was so short. Hopefully Earl is saving the best for next time.
