Heavy and bombastic, No.4 sounds like a summation of the preceding three STP albums. It marks the band's return to its heavy roots following the '70s psych-pop nuances of Tiny Music... three years earlier. Dean DeLeo?s metallic guitar tones and Weiland's chameleonic vocal style are the main highlights in this snarling album, which was recorded as a postscript to grunge's sunset. With No.4, STP regained their career momentum and were susceptible only to their addictions. Tony recommends: "Down", "Sour Girl", "No Way Out", "Sex & Violence", "Atlanta", "I Got You".
