Recalling the likes of Duffy, Adele & Amy Winehouse, raspy singer-songwriter Elle King (the daughter of comedian Rob Schneider) simultaneously impresses & disappoints on her belated debut LP 'Love Stuff'. While taking a cue from the late 2000's soul-pop explosion, King adds blues & country to the mix to carve out her own accessible niche. Slickly produced by the likes of Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker & Jacknife Lee, the best tunes here are thrilling. Not everything works, however, and while King does come off as genuine, it's a shame that her trademark humor is stifled. Recommended Tracks: America's Sweetheart, Under the Influence, Ex's and Oh's & Last Damn Night.
