Following their excellent debut LP 'Burn', Australian rockers Young Lions look to step it up on follow-up 'Blue Isla'. Much more ambitious in scope than its predecessor, intermittent choirs & gang vocals add a huge, anthemic feel to proceedings. Both a pro & a con, this album also dials down the tempo & aggression in order to spotlight more atmospheric soundscapes. In truth, 'Blue Isla' doesn't quite match up to 'Burn', but it's still a very solid & consistent LP and, most importantly, a learning curve which should serve the young quintet well down the track.
