2.5 average | Jared Floryan | May 19th 15 | Coal Chamber's comeback album Rivals is a zebra with more or less the same stripes. While there isn't anything wrong with homogeneity every once in awhile, one would automatically wish Dez Fafara didn't get this band back together, considering the lack of musical progression from their last official release Dark Days. Most of Coal Chamber's fiends may have quite the easy time flocking to their first record in 13 years, and to the nu metal band's credit, Rivals is still better than their debut, though this doesn't say much. I personally think CC would've gotten off through less difficult footing had they crafted Chamber Music all over again (albeit with tweaking), but the new effort right here isn't terrible.

2.5 average | davezillaMP3 | July 27th 20 | well the good on the final coal chamber album is they all cringe traces of their early output is gone, however the album as it stands is really unforgettable and the songs do kinda blend together. The bass here is lacking too, which is a disappointment since bass is usually one of the things this band has going for themselves. Coal Chamber moved from wanting to impress their big brother Korn to living with their uncle Pantara (one could argue the album sounds like Nothingface b-sides). On a positive note, Dez does bring a good amount of aggression and his songwriting has improved a lot, and the album is the band's aggressive to date, what is with those pointless interludes though
