Taking Terrifyer one step further by adding in the evil threating demeanor of Prowler in the Yard Pig Destroyer has reached their apex with Phantom Limb by continuing to evolve and keeping their roots firmly intact. With this release Pig Destroyer are showing that unlike plenty of bands who release classic first and second albums and then slightly become garbage, that a band (a grindcore band no less) can become better with each release and progress their music form without leaving the genre.
Highly reccomended to anyone who loves extreme music.

Yay, this is heavy as well. I don't know why, but I feel that the second half of the album was stronger than the other (- same case with Terrifyer)... Pretty straight-forward album, very well done.

"Phantom Limb" is a step back in comparison to its predecessors, but incredibly consistent and violent. Pig Destroyer has had the unfortunate downfall that many Grindcore bands have had in recent years, getting the best records early in their discography. The art of the cover even deceives in relation to the sonority, in "Prowler in the Yard" the band was very direct according to its message.

It's hard to imagine fans being disappointed with Phantom Limb-- I'm certainly not. The production is impeccable (again), the performances are furious, and the lyrics (though indecipherable) are the poetry of a gorily-minded wordsmith. There is also an eerie seven-and-a-half minute ambient closer that is a fitting, if frightening, end. This record doesn't drag in the second half, like Terrifyer did, though Terrifyer reaches greater heights.

While songs on Phantom Limb are generally longer than and not quite exciting as those on Pig Destroyer's two previous albums, it is still very entertaining.

A true classic in modern metal... Pig Destroyer are the future nowadays... The only bad point is this suposed "Easter Egg" in the final ghost track... Is that metal?

Pig Destroyer have combined the sharp production of Terrifyer and merged it with the frightening speed and intense groove of Prowler.
The album takes a little time to grow on you but once it has, it's quality begins to shine through. Hayes sounds demonic throughout - lyrically he is as excellent as he always has been. Scott Hull's guitar buzzes like a chainsaw with riffs that ooze with both technicality and taste. As expected, Harvey demolishes his drumkit - blastbeats and double bass runs amok throughout. Even the addition of Blake Harrison on samples adds an extra dimension to their sound (he also contributes some vocals).
A definite grind classic. Pig Destroyer have shown they can evolve and kick copious amounts of ass. Recommended tracks would definitely be Thought Crime Spree, Loathsome, Heathen Temple, Alexandria, Waist Deep In Ash and The Machete Twins.
Expect a full review from me sometime in the future.
