"The Creator Has a Master Plan" might just be the pinnacle of jazz as a medium of emotional art.

In three words: epic and peaceful. In more words: it's impressive how such a spiritual record manages to contain so many avant-garde notions without the two genres overthrowing the other. Indeed, it's quite laid-back for a free jazz album, but it's fucking frantic for a spiritual jazz one. It's just so tightly performed, the energy is always present, and it's full of epic instruments (there's a triangle j/). There even is some yodelling - thx Leon Thomas - that at first made me think of Heidi in Switzerland, but apparently his inspiration comes from African pygmies. Whodathunk. One uplifting motherfucker.

One half-hour long jazz odyssey that is both invigorating and admirable-- but is nonetheless a little too long-- and a shorter second track which serves as a highly accomplished addendum. Overall, this is an excellent blend of avantgarde and spiritual jazz. Sanders destroys his sax (figuratively) on "The Creator Has a Master Plan."

Hypnotic. Burrzum-like jazz. Based around a repeating rhythm with some singing and Sanders' sax wailing at times breaking the monotony.

84/100. Geez, "The Creator has a Master Plan" really picks up twenty minutes in--- what an incredible journey of emotion, sound, and spirituality.

'Karma' is an interesting listen, yet it's not as excellent as people make it out to be. The yodeling isn't for everybody, the repetitiveness of the main theme can become boring, and the moments of brilliance are few and far between.
