If you've ever wondered just how Metallica came to be the biggest metal band of all time, then this is the record you have to listen to and see. The recorded concerts (both the video/audio) taken at the end of the 80's and early 90's chronicle Metallica at the peak of their powers. Every member is on top on their game (including Lars), James finally comes out of his shell as a vocalist and delivers some powerhouse performances, markedly improving the vocal melodies of songs from their older albums. Its a thoroughly exhaustive record (theres the audio concert and the filmed concerts), and perhaps the last truly great Metallica release (with the exception of S&M). An essential insight to the period where Metallica ruled the rock and metal world.
