Constantly hard-hitting yet varied enough to avoid feeling redundant and excellent pacing help make As the Palaces Burn one of the most well constructed modern albums.

Lamb of God released quite a terrible debut with New American Gospel, but they somehow got their act together and released a truly great album with As the Palaces Burn. I have a tough time deciding if I like this better than Ashes of the Wake bu this one has its moments with the most impressive guitar work of any LoG album. Ruin, 11th Hour, and Vigil should be looked into by any metalhead.

My listening experience can be summarised as waiting over several tracks patiently until you get a good one. It's almost as if the guys said: "Hey, should we just take all our fillers and put them on one album?". But look at the silver lining, they expended all their fillers on one record so their later releases can all be badass. Brilliant!
