SremmLife, the debut album by Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, might not be too big on subtlety nor does it come down to whatever variety lies within the trap-centric production values mostly commandeered by Mike WiLL Made It. Even so, however, the duo that make up Rae Sremmurd ('ear drummers" spelled backwards) clearly have that potential to become something more.

Definitely not a perfect album, but it is a definitive party rap album of 2015. Rae Sremmurd, any weakness they have in traditional rap writing, make up for with energy, song ideas, flow, and "swag". And it doesn't hurt that the album, from bottom to top, bangs, thanks to an array of raps best producers at the top of their game. Some flaws obviously, as Sremmurd fall into many of the rap album tropes, but beyond that this is my summer album.

First listen: what a joke. Latest listen: unlocked.rRae Sremmurd's debut album Sremmlife is what I found funny and loose to begin with. Gradually though, it became a down great bumper of a hip-hop album I love to get hype to. rKiller tracks: Lit Like Bic, No Flex Zone, Up Like Trump, Throw Some Mo, YNO, No Type, Safe Sex Pay Checks.
