I finally found an album from the technical death metal genre that I think deserves 5 stars. That album is The Erosion Of Sanity by Gorguts. This album has everything that I want from technical death metal. Here I found the proper speed, immense brutality, insane technicality, great diversity, crushing heaviness and even catchiness and melodies. It is very hard to describe this album because it is so fucking good! All I have to say is that if you like technical death metal or old-school death metal than you have to get this album ASAP.

"The Erosion of Sanity" is a much more progressive and technical footprint of Gorguts within its conception of Death Metal. The band has always been very effective at what they produced, and here they almost hit the sonic ecstasy. Many consider this feat to be only idealized in "Obscura", but the reality is that all the success that the band has always had, comes from a well aware work from the beginning of their trajectory.

Might even replace Obscura as favorite Gorguts record in time. So many instruments that seep into the record that aren't present off Obscura.

You gotta love Luc Lemay's vocals ! Like Considered Dead, this is perfectly executed, straightforward OldSchool Death Metal with standout vocals.

Not near the excitement of [i]Obscura[i], but that's not necessarily a negative given how great that album was. This sounds more like traditional death metal, housing good catchy riffs. There really isn't a bad song on this album. Overall, don't let the fact that [i]Obscura[i] is better than this make think that this is a bad album, it is far far from it.

The sound here is immense and overwhelming, thanks equally to every band member. It's horrifying, sinister and primordial, with awesome vocals and drumming. This is about as good as technical death metal gets.
