I find that the title track, Babel's Tower, Ghosts of the Charnel House and Born to Night are especially gratifying.

Never been a fan of power metal vocals, and this record is focused on 'em. While the soundscape is quite large with folk, doom, and black metal with a strong pagan vibe, the sole musical qualities aren't enough for me to enjoy Where Greater Men Have Fallen - badass title tbh.

After 2011's Redemption At The Puritan's Hand, there was speculation that, even though it was a good album, it signified the band slowing down and becoming stagnant. Where Greater Men Have Fallen put all that talk to rest, though, with the band sounding as forceful and as passionate as they've ever sounded. The first great thing about this record is the production, as it's truly excellent. The drums have a discernible punch to them, and the guitars sound wonderfully full alongside the nice bass presence. The songwriting, although ultimately nothing much different from past efforts, has been improved somewhat, with the quality in riffs bubbling up to the point which they are no longer simply just the stormy backbone upon which the albums stand. Rather, they are co-commanders with Nemtheanga, who puts in a phenomenal vocal performance as expected. The consistency which the band has operated their entire careers with shines through in spades here as well, making this one of the best records of their discography at a time when people wondered if they had another great one in them.

Primordial escape the relative thinness of the previous album with better songs, excellent sound production (the drums are as physical as they can get these days) and a moderate retrospection of the sound evidenced in their first few releases. Besides the great epic heavy/black metal this Irishmen are known for, there are no real surprises here, but then again they might have not been expected in the first place. Favorite tracks: "Babel's Tower" and "Born to Night".

Primordial return with another quality album yet I cant help but feel something is missing. Other than the phenomenal title track, none of the tracks have that same oomph or raw emotion found on To the Nameless Dead. While all the tracks are quality in their own right, they just pale in comparison to their past works. Its a great record dont get me wrong, but it did not blow me away. 3.6/5 rEDIT: It grew on me quite a bit 3.9/5
