Once again Minaj fails to make anything notable or interesting. The act where she tried
to be sappy and emotional is not pulled off correctly, especially considering that songs
such as "Anaconda" are present here. She hasn't changed a bit and she's proud of it.

Pink Friday was... a disappointment, to say the least. On that record, Nicki just couldn't find the proper balance of hip hop and commercialized pop and resulted in cooking up something too hollow. As for The Pinkprint? Here, Nicki Minaj mostly proves to be as vulnerable as she is overconfident, and the songs are overall amusing; "Anaconda" took fucking guts, you have to admit! This doesn't look or sound like it's going to be AOTY material, but for someone who once claimed to be the baddest bitch, it's a step up for sure.

Quite a shocker this album was. I rolled my eyes at "Anaconda", but luckily that song seemed to be a fluke. Moments are quite personal. Definitely not the usual Nicki, thankfully.

Thank god she dropped the party aesthetic. This is darker both lyrics-wise and musically, but it still retains her classic braggadocio and rapping technique, which are much more at ease here than on her electropop-full early 2010s album. Of course it's too long though.

People who like Nicki Minaj will dig it, people who want to like Nicki Minaj will dig it. But on the whole, there's not much to say about its contributions to pop music other than maintaining a status quo that achieved its peak many years ago. The press surrounding this will undoubtedly overshadow the actual content here, and it's not hard to see why. What is there to say that hasn't been said?

Picture a curiousity-inducing, maturarion-displaying and infecciously consistent pop and hip-hop record. That's basically what The Pinkprint could have been. Instead, it does fulfil the first two factors but gets lost in the midst of a chunk of overproduced, trashy and awful radio songs. A rollercoaster with unexpectedly soaring highs and wrecking lows.
