A good case for saying big things come in small packages. Bad Religion packs 15 tracks into less than 30 minutes with No Control. This is not completely uncommon for punk bands, but the way BR goes about it is what set them apart from the pack. The highly educated Greg Graffin has so much to say, and it's astounding listening to him pack all those words into such short tracks. He's practically rapping at a break neck pace half the time. The genre doesn't leave a whole lot of room for the instruments to breathe, but these guys are focused and play so goddamn fast, with marathon worthy drumming and buzzsaw sounding guitars. There is a little bit of subtlety as well, with some slower tracks, excellent melodies and clever tempo shifts. There are some corny lyrics and a couple songs that just don't stand out, but No Control is almost perfect in spite of it. Best tracks are Sometimes I Feel Like, Automatic Man, I Want to Conquer the World, Sanity, Progress and I Want Something More.
