It is fearless. And it is impressive. But Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance is nowhere worth a five year wait. Nevertheless, no one should be complaining about welcoming back the band's always pleasant, lush sound. And the second half of the album is the best we've heard in years. rKiller tracks: Nobody's Empire, The Cat With the Cream, Perfect Couples, Ever Had a Little Faith?, Play For Today, The Book of You, Today (This Army's For Peace)

This is Belle & Sebastian's "out there" album. I guess every band is entitled to one in their career. Usually they don't fare so well, and this is no exception.

Though nearly every track is overlong and the songwriting is a bit by the books, this is still the beautifully vocalized and effortlessly lush Belle and Sebastian we all know and love. And while the disco dance floor-rousers aren't quite their forte, the efforts here are appreciated - the standout of which manages one hell of a coda and compares love to a frog that's been misunderstood.
