4.5 superb | Trifolium | November 14th 18 | High Fives is soooooooo good. Album shows some seriously delicious Four Tet, with organic samples and nice bells and beats. Miss this side of his sound.

3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | July 28th 17 | Four Tet, at least for me, is starting to become a guy that sort of defies description. He's got this unwavering, intimate quality about him that permeates his music, and though on paper Everything Ecstatic seems like a bit of a wreck, it all comes together so perfectly because of this humanly, intimate feel. The problem with some of his early works was that while it contained this feeling, oftentimes the music was a bit too uneventful or boring to salvage completely. That's definitely not the case for this record, as it becomes apparent even from the opening minutes that this is going to be something a bit weirder and wilder than the standard folktronica fare. Sounds from nu jazz, glitch, and IDM are very much a part of things, as well as the sample work that gives Four Tet's outings so much character. It's not an album that would've worked were it anyone else making it, only Four Tet.

3.5 great | AtThePinery | January 21st 15 | Definitely not a highlight in the Four Tet discography, but a good listen nontheless. Lots of great songs on this album., lots of personality.

2.5 average | MassiveAttack | August 27th 09 | Four Tet's illustrious consistency on his electronic records envelope a playful and seething quality within all of them. Much like Rounds, Everything Ecstatic fails to topple Pause or his debut Dialogue. While Everything Ecstatic, unlike its previous album may have shorter sequences and track times it still is plagued by the album's lack of flow. While Rounds was stretched to oblivion on some songs, Everything Ecstatic fails to make a connection with the listener on some songs, which is why it fails to make a great impression. There are a few tracks that do hook you in: "Smile Around The Face", "High Five", and "You Were There With Me" do for a good portion of them, much to the same affect of previous songs by Four Tet like "My Angel Moves Back And Forth", "No More Mosquitoes", and "Parks". These tracks attach themselves to your psyche while the others bring a convulsed and random feeling throughout. Four Tet's new style of mashing tiny drum breaks with abrasive background electronic doesn't entirely work on his recent works, hopefully he'll decide to ditch it.
