Biting and humorous social critiques, seemingly effortless production, killer tunes, and addicting beats; what more could you ask for? The first five tracks are the best, ending with the quietly devastating "Someone Great" and dangerously catchy "All My Friends".

I really wanted to like this. I tried my best to listen to it as many times as possible before passing judgement on it, but the fact of the matter is that with the exception of Time to Get Away, this album is a tedious and monotonous bore.
Although I do think there are the possibilites of catching grooves and dancing rhythms, just when it seems that they will jump out, nothing happens.
The only thing keeping the album from being rated even lower is that I find the lyrics to North American Scum relatively clever, and the build up for Get Innocuous! is interesting, but I won't find myself giving this album a lot of playing time.

Good, just not anything amazing. I remember there being a surge of people raising a hubbub over this a while ago and didn't understand it; I still don't understand. I can sort of see why some people find this enjoyable, but there are so many others albums out there that this album doesn't even hold a flame to. I might as well keep this though, just for the random happenstance that I may be in the mood for it a long way down the road. Some people may tout this as king, but as for me, when I'm in the mood for some post-punk I'll break out the ol' "Remain in Light". 3.24/5

Remain in the light from Talking Heads vibes, so they share pretty much all the same defaults and quality about their albums. New york, i love you come from no where, seriously, the album end with a song that have no ressemble to the rest of the album but, its still good. 8/10

James Murphy is a multi-instrumentalist kingpin of the dance-punk genre, and he gained a lot of respect in the music world under the name of LCD Soundsystem. This album is his biggest draw. While his debut was certainly fun in some places, it was equally boring in others. Here, he cuts off the fat of his debut and refines his sound for the better. With dancier tracks like "Time To Get Away", synth-driven pieces like "Someone Great", exceedingly fun and a bit experimental songs like "All My Friends", and the beautiful "New York, I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down", there is a lot to appreciate here. There are a couple of songs that stay a bit beyond their welcome, but for the most part this is a great improvement, and there are no tracks that are bad at all. It's a perfect album for having a good time, and is a satisfying listen in any case.

This album takes time to get to know but if you give it that time it will reward it a thousand times over. The beats and the rythms will slowly start to seep into your soul and than one moment you will realise that you should never have doubted this record and that you need to hear this record every now and again just because you miss it. There are many highlights: Time to get away, someone great, all my friends, us v Them are all 5 out of 5 for me. And if you have the chance go and see them live. It might just be the best thing since sliced bread.
