Say what you will about Machine Head's career, the up's and down's are on a steady bell curve in a general ascent. Sure, they'll never make another The Blackening again, but neither will they return to the early days. Bloodstone and Diamonds brings back accessible track times with only a mere couple extending on the seven minute mark. Flynn's vocals aren't any surprise, nor is the new inclusion on bass. Some stand-outs include: Sail Into The Black, In Comes The Flood and Imaginal Cells.

While I still iked Unto the locust a lot, this record in my opinion sounds so damn much like slipknot it hurts my ears. Game Over is a great example for this, but the refrain is so damn catchy and good it compensates the similarity for that particular song. Game over is a great title, while the rest of the album is sort of okay buy nothing special.

I cant be objective with this band...Any Machine Head album for me is flawless..like this one...NOW WE DIE, GAME OVER TAKE ME THROUGH THE FIRE, SAIL INTO THE BLACK, EYES OF THE DEAD, GHOST WILL HAUNT MY BONES, KILLERS AND KINGS, NIGHT OF THE LONG KNIVES...!!! every song in this masterpiece is Robb Flynn's finest moment

Bloodstone and Diamonds is yet another Machine Head album with some incredible instrumentals. This one also adds quite a few songs with catchy hooks for good measure. However, it is not perfect. It just feels like they've taken it too far with a few of the parts; they kind of seem cheesy. Overall though, another good album that Machine Head fans will surely enjoy.

Great to hear them mixing things up a little, quite refreshing. Sail into the Black is the albums brightest moment. Epic song. This would be a 4.0-4.5 if not for some terrible fillers. A few bad apples spoil the bunch unfortunately.

Overall this is a good album. It's not as good as Unto the Locust but to me that album is a classic. A lot of this album sounds like a mix of the progression they made on the Blackening and Unto the Locust mixed with their old stuff. A few of the shorter tracks like the uninspired Imaginal Cells (fuck those talking clips) and Damage Inside are unnecessary and do nothing but distract from a pretty damn good album.

There's no doubt there's a couple misses on this album - mostly when they're trying to experiment - most notably Damage Inside, and there's a couple others that fall flat. But there's no beaster vocalist than Flynn, and the guitar and bass are sweet in many spots. Sail Into the Black, In Comes the Flood, Game Over, and Take Me Through the Fire are awesome tracks.

I really enjoyed the last 3 albums but this seems surprisingly uninspired in places. There are section that attempt to be experimental but it just comes across as them clutching at straws for ideas. There are some solid tracks though, but it's overall a bit disappointing
