While the preceding record Transference was full of indie songs that were all neat but not much more, They Want My Soul is absolutely banging, with almost every track showcasing tight songwriting that doesn't go too fancy, yet always lands a memorable melody here and there.

It may be more "cleaned up" than Spoon's previous efforts, to some fans' chagrin, but They Want My Soul is still a collection of ten wonderful pieces, with the titular track and New York Kiss being especially strong. The album shines both lyrically and musically, and is a worthy addition to Spoon's list of stellar albums.

Future rock bands take note; Spoon might have just changed the game. Creative and full of trippy passion, this album holds some remarkable moments by not being to overzealous like many of it counterparts. As this is my first Spoon album, I look forward to exploring their massive 8 LP back-catalog and seeing what could come next for these guys.

Where do I start..well for one, the M83/Sdtk to Drive vibe really through me for a loop. But then came the melodies and the hooks and it was a wrap. This is, in my opinion their finest hour since "Kill the Moonlight". It's an entirely different beast though. Actually almost completely opposites sound/production wise. 'DO YOU' & 'Knock knock knock' are currently being played to death in my car. This is my first 'Sound Off' so try not to be too harsh on me.
