| 0.0 | LivingThrowaway | May 21st 15 | Is this the same black thread that put out all those sloppy tape loop constructions on turmeric magnitudes??? It couldn't be... I mean, this is way too well constructed, not falling apart and starting over again like many of their other works. It's as though he/she/they actually constructed this, instead of just experimenting and using what fit.
I don't know why, and may never know why, this 33 minute piece from what could be otherwise described as an amateur project has such emotional resonance with me. I can't really justify the reason that I have listened to this 80 + times... I just can't. It doesn't do anything outlandish; it's literally layers of loops repeating themselves into infinity. Still, it does create a feeling not dissimilar to the effects of a barbiturate or other strong painkiller; creating a sense of detachment, and more specifically, for me, the feeling of being at the bottom of a 10-foot deep hole with a warm, fuzzy blanket over my head.... A feeling no other piece has effectively recreated.
Even though almost entirely unremarkable musically, somehow this piece has the ability to be a weekly listen in my household. I know this, and, at the same time, know that black thread will never top this; won't even come close, but this part of their prolific catalogue, by fluke or no, will remain a classic to me until the day I die...
tl;dr Hardest 5 I ever gave, even though I cannot justify it...

| 0.0 | MistaCrave | April 30th 16 | Meadowlark evokes an emotional reaction in me unlike anything else I've ever experienced. I don't know what it is about this slightly varying set of tones that connects with me on such a profound level, but whatever it is, it's absolutely astonishing.

| 3.0 good | Bedex | March 19th 20 | So this one was a weird listen. For the most part, I thought this was overrated and I was feeling a bit disappointed. This is a single pad of ambient that evolves over 30min, and while it is very nice, lush and comforting, there is other stuff like this that I like more. Yet, come the end, I didn't really wanted it to end. It puts you in a certain headspace, and I wanted to stay there. So I guess this deserves a second listen, but for now I found it a bit flat and it gets a 3.2
