Depressed middle-class lyrics can only salvage acoustic emo to a certain extent. My innate white middle-class DNA tells me this is enjoyable, my post-modern brain high on noise rock however says this is trash. Tis truly a conundrum.

Was really hoping to love this given my affinity for The Wonder Years, but this just doesn't do it for me. All the songs sound a bit samey sonically despite their solid lyrics. Other than 'Our Apartment' I doubt I'll return to this. Edit: returned to it, despite my best intentions; better than I remember

The pure and raw emotion in this album is draining. Listening to this story of Dan Campbell's fictitious character, Aaron West, tugs on your heartstrings. You have empathy, just like reading a novel. The loss in this album, the turmoil and tragedy, is incredible. It is sung in such a way, that you wouldn't know that it was all created in Soupy's head. Never have I experienced emotion like this in an album. The reason I got in to this album was my best friend. Who listens to it every time we are in the car. I go back and forth between my feelings upon it. Whether it be to sing along, or to just sit, listen, and let the lyrics sink in. To think that all of the events that occur are possible, is heartbreaking. The loss of your father, or wife, or child. Real life events that are brought in to this album and exhaled in such an impeccable way.

Didn't know I could give a fuck about this record. Listened to it once, found myself listening to it 3 more times. Never liked The Wonder Years (not a big punk fan), but this, THIS I like. And damn those stories he's telling are heartbreaking.

Amazing lyrics and vocals, Soupy tells a great story and sure delivers. The instrumentation is pretty average, sure, but it has some great ideas - the only problem is, soon as they're showcased, it's as if they're hidden too far away in the production. So yeah, not quite on-par with TWY, but still a really good album with some incredibly heartfelt songs.
