Eh. here we have jay z, easily the most overrated rapper ever. this album is pretty good the first time you
listen but after a few times, it becomes one of the most boring and uninteresting albums of all time. first
off jays flow is, as usual, trash. even on the best songs renegade and the rulers back he spits so unevenly
its painful. whether its takover (one of the worst disses of all time, he actually compliments illmatic while
"dissing" nas) or the horrendous hola hovito (where his flow is at an all time low and he claims to be better
than biggie), this album is VERY uninteresting. also renegade is only listenable because of em. anyways, jay
once again you prove you are just above average garbage. i honestly dont understand why anyone would
think hes a legend. hes pretty much garbage except for reasonable doubt. and his fans are such dick riders.
hes so cocky its hard to believe. people make fun of wayne for calling himself the best rapper alive... jay
claims to be the best rapper ever. and he always brings up the fact that all his albums were #1. that just
proves he sucks. hes a bs mainstream artist, and mainstream buys into weak bullshit that poisons the minds
of the kids who listen. jay you are ruining america and you are absolute garbage. i hate jeezy, gucci mane,
soulja boy and drake but jay is the worst rapper ever.

When this was acclaimed as the first truly great hip-hop record of the 21st century, I was perplexed. What's so special about it? Yet, 5 years on, and I still give this regular spins. Guess the critics were right, and my original 3-star review was entirely wrong. Although "Girls Girls Girls" is still one of the most heinously bad songs I've ever heard, the rest forms a solid, impressive, enjoyable album. "Renagades", "Song Cry", "Izzo HOVA", "Takeover", and "Heart of The City" are all great songs, no matter how you cut it. The Blueprint flies in the face of the typical 'blueprint' for a mainstream hip-hop record by refusing to be dominated by its own singles, or gangster cliche. A damn good album, in every sense.

Other than the silly eastern influenced "Jigga That Nigga" and the below average verse lyrics of "Girls Girls Girls" (a wasted beat if i ever heard one), The Blueprint is one of the most solid and enticing rap albums out there, but is not deserving of classic status simply because it's just not up to that level yet. That belongs to 'Reasonable Doubt'.

Hey, I actually really like this one. I've always thought Jay-Z took his bullshit too seriously but there's enough panache - and more than enough killer hooks - for 'The Blueprint' to really work.

"The Rulers Back" and its true. He is a big inspiration to rap and music in general. This album is classic Jay-Z spittin' out his rhymes. "Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love)" is still one of my top 10 rap songs. Jay-Z is genius.

This is one of the few hip hop albums I can think of where every track is good. Most of them are not just good, they are great. Just Blaze and Kanye West did an amazing job producing this album. Every beat is excellent, from the lush "Heart of the City" to the bleak, almost eerie closer "Blueprint." The album also cuts out the massive amounts of guest spots that usually frequent his albums. Simply put an amazingly solid piece of mainstream rap.
