Ridgway on keys and harp; The inimitable Marc Moreland on guitar; Nanini's manic beats and
the amazing Chas T. Gray. This is Stan Ridgway at his cynical, biting best. This
record sounded like nothing else out there (well, except for Dark Continent, lol). These
guys were so far ahead of their time that they nearly went unnoticed by the public at large.
Mexican Radio was the big hit and it was probably the "lightest fare" on the whole record.
So, classic lineup + classic lyrics and music = classic album. Pretty simple. I think
Rolling Stone gave this two stars when it came out. So much for "professional" critics...
