3.0 good | ExplosiveOranges | June 7th 14 | It's like Screaming for Vengeance. Except without the awesome riffs. Or awesome vocals. Or
awesome anything.
Edit: I was wrong. Yeah, it ain't Brave New World or Endgame, but it's still 10 times better
than Nostradamus.

2.0 poor | Wizard | July 12th 14 | "Precisely where Redeemer of Souls fits in this spectrum though is a constantly baffling and difficult question to answer, yielding mixed results overall."
If the decision making was like this with me, I would slap a 2/5 on it and move on in life hahahaha. There's too much good music out there waiting for exposure rather then wasting your time deciding whether a records great or not. Fortunately for me, I took my own advice with this and I gave this one listen and decided it sucked. The end, move on!

0.0 | mandan | May 4th 14 | This will most assuredly suck. In a big way. Band should stop releasing material and stick to touring. They've just run dry; plus, it'll never be the same without KK.

3.0 good | Voivod STAFF | August 23rd 14 | In their n-th album, Judas Priest go through the motions, motions that established them within the worldwide heavy metal elite many years ago. Going through the motions is not necessarily bad, especially for bands like Judas Priest (and Motorhead and so on), as long as the produced music sounds fresh. Unofortunately for this album, Judas Priest sound tired in all sectors but the exceptional, lightning-fast, trademark lead guitar work. Still, Redeemer Of Souls is a good album, but nowhere near the first choices of an individual in need of cutting-edge Judas Priest metal...

2.5 average | Xenorazr | July 9th 14 | Seventeen studio albums in and Judas Priest can still provide acceptable material, but there's hardly a way or place for Redeemer of Souls to stand out in their discography.

3.0 good | Trey STAFF | July 25th 14 | It's a Judas Priest metal album. I've never really been a fan of anything other than Painkiller, so...

2.5 average | Decibilitated | July 14th 14 | I mean, it's not awful, but it ain't very good, either. I'd Argue 13 is a much better "comeback" record, but slow, chuggy doom is probably a lot easier to play in your 60s than NWOBHM

3.0 good | Fernando Alves STAFF | July 4th 14 | As expected, Redeemer of Souls will not go down in history as one of Priest's best albums, the band has lost its mojo after Painkiller and never managed to record an album truly relevant since. However, even though the album basically recycles old ideas, after a few listens Redeemer of Souls becomes more enjoyable. Cold Blooded and Secrets of the Dead are the best songs on the album.

1.5 very poor | GamamJ | March 17th 20 | I thought I haf listened to the pinnacle of uninspired Priest when listening to Demolition. I was wrong. Redeemer of Souls is probably the largest offender of this in Priest?s entire discography, and it shows. Truly saddening.

2.5 average | P0laris | March 31st 18 | The production for this album is incredibly lackluster, even more so than the project that preceded it. But tbh, there's some decent tunes on this thing, which makes it much more tolerable than Nostradamus. Although it does drag on, it has much more reason to than that nearly 2 hour mess. Still a major snoozer tho.

3.0 good | Robbit | March 14th 18 | Having already created a winning formula, the band seem unwilling to tamper with it much here, so don't expect much in the way of new innovations or experiments. The good news is the band is playing more straight forward classic metal here and not the pop diluted variant they had toyed with during the mid-80s. However, they are playing things just a little too safe as the songs tend to be somewhat generic and seem at least slightly contrived. The fault doesn't lie within the performances, as everyone seems engaged and doing their best to hit their marks. It's more that the sense they're trying to very hard to find inspiration during a difficult transition.
Their efforts here are generally praiseworthy as there are several decent tracks in "Dragonaut", "March Of The Damned", "Metalizer", the title track and the ending ballad "Beginning Of The End". The bluesy hard rock of "Crossfire" is probably the most unusual track, but does seems to point back towards their very early roots. It's a well played album, but there are few songs here that could be called essential additions to the Priest canon. In that way, REDEEMER OF SOULS remains a little too non descript and unexceptional when considered alongside their classics. Almost great, but just not memorable enough.

3.0 good | Resident Metalhead Piranha | July 5th 17 | Redeemer of Souls is amostly middle-of-the-ground album by the once legendary JP, but it's not a disappointment like Nostradamus was. "Dragonaut" is cheesy enough to serve with wine, but it's a fun tune. The t/t continues the trend but with more riffs, "Halls of Valhalla" is a better tune than either one, "March of The Damned" has the catchiest riffs and "feel" and may be the best tune here, and "Beginning of The End" isn't trite like previous JP ballads and actually feels like a swansong for the group. There's nothing offensive here, and the music for the most part is pretty solid, but this doesn't bring much redemption for the fading legends.

4.0 excellent | furyroad97 | October 24th 15 | Priest, as a whole, are more energetic musically than they've been in years on this thing, and considering most of the stuff they dropped since Painkiller (excluding Angel of Retribution, which was still pretty damn good) was generally uninspired & underwhelming at best, that ain't something I'm gonna say lightly.

3.0 good | EcoChocolatacchi | May 7th 15 | Finally a proper comeback album....to the mixing sins of the early 80s.rBands I adore that once they ran out of original ideas quickly stole from JP now are the inspiration for this album, I'm looking at you Gamma Ray!

3.0 good | BRAman22 | July 11th 14 | It is unreasonable to think that this would live up to classics like Screaming For Vengeance and Painkiller. However, it is perfectly reasonable to think that Priest can still put out a decently entertaining album, which is exactly what they've done with Redeemer of Souls.
