Sunset on the Golden Age is decent for the first Alestorm album I've listened to. From what I've gathered it is very similar to previous releases. While this album alone is relatively fun to listen to, I can't imagine that this would be a very fun to listen to in abundance.

Pirate metal: it's basically power metal, but that talks about drinking rum and allowing oneself to not take a shower. Not exactly my cuppa, yet this is kinda fun, especially that hilarious Taio Cruz cover that actually makes me want to be stupidly drunk - that's the goal of the whole record I guess.

its dumb, its silly, its also pure fun. the boys rly went out of their way outsourcing ppl much more talented than them to make sthg worth listening to, and it worked. chris's vox still suck and its too bad they didnt replace him/get singing lessons except for the tao cover (which is pure win) but the whole album is honestly a good time obliterating any shits given about its ridiculousness

Used to consider it almost perfect but with time, I've grown less fond of some tracks. So, though there are great songs, I cannot rate it as high as I would have after my first listening. Best songs: Wooden Leg!, 1741 (The Battle of Carthagena), Drink, Sunset on the Golden Age.

Aside from Walk the Plank and Surf Squid Warfare wearing out their welcome quite quickly, I
seriously love this album. Nice to hear some more aggressive vocals and a lighter-hearted take
with some songs (Wooden Leg, Drink).
