Lost & Fading, Death's Head, and Give it All fucking own. I've been shitting on this band for having crappy harsh vocal verses, but this album totally shut me up.

No more fun party songs, it's all serious now. Definitely worth a listen if your into post hardcore

the lyrics here are often too on the nose and personal for their own good, and the angst has been turned up to 11. luckily, the vocal duties have been returned to a 50/50 split, preventing the cleans from getting too monotonous, like they did on Chasing Ghosts. Nevertheless, the album doesn't have as many catchy and immediately memorable tracks as either of their last two LPs, making the songs run together some. still, the album features a worthy set of songs all throughout, which all feature superior production to the band's last two efforts. it's more of a grower than Youngbloods or Chasing Ghosts, but if a more polished and gloomier than usual TAA sounds like a good time, check it out.

Arguably their darkest release yet, while still maintaining their catchy, pop punk chorus hooks. Let The Ocean Take Me isn't immediately wowing as the likes of Youngbloods or even Chasing Ghosts due to it housing absolutely no surprises whatsoever. There's some great tracks on here, with the one-two punch of 'Never Alone' and 'Death's Hand' as well as the penultimate 'Forest Fire' being some of the album's best cuts, but ultimately, it's the same Amity you've heard before.

While I appreciate the sincere effort of trying to connect with their fans, I believe the band tries TOO hard at it. The younger kids like stuff to mosh to, so they threw breakdowns in some of these songs that really ruin any potentially shining moments. It is very maddening to say the least. Just like their last album, the guitars never really had any standout moments. Vocals and lyrical content obviously were the biggest focus, but the instrumentation needs to have moments other than just in the middle of breakdowns where they can stand out. Obviously, if you were not a fan of the band to begin with, Let The Ocean Take Me is not going to change your mind. Nevertheless, The Amity Affliction's fourth record is a good one. One that presents something much of the music world is lacking nowadays: sentiment.

It lacks innovation. There's not one riff/idea/rhythm/melodic line that hasn't been done before. It's certainly
trying to strive for difference by treating the album's progression as a concept, but plays it safe within the
genre. The singles picked such as "Pittsburgh" and "Don't Lean on Me" were great choices, as they're some of
the best from the album. But, others like "Never Alone" and "Death's Hand" are good listens as well.

This album has leaked heaps early. Will have to go and download it now. Expecting more of the same though with the 2 songs released being typical Amity. Hoping for some progression and variety though. Predicting a 3-3.5.
