firmly say this was the best record 2014 had to offer. A chameleon of styles of ranging from hardcore punk, black
metal, crust and blackgaze, Black Monolith has perfected the blend of styles creating a record that is both dreary
furious. Truly a must listen.

4.5 superb | NewBallistics | May 2nd 16 | An outstanding combination of my particular tastes in blackglaze injected with loud hardcore punk anger and heart-pounding post-rock atmosphere. I'll even say this; it's almost a powerviolent cover of Transilvanian Hunger with more open production choices. Color me grey, I'm fucking impressed.

4.0 excellent | MasBarHigeuoris21 | February 3rd 15 | On paper black post metal does not sound like it would sound good together with punk but somehow Black Monolith gets it to work. Yes this sounds almost exactly like Deafheaven but this is still a good record. If anyone wanted to find out what Deafheaven would sound like with black metal and punk elements added, this is the record for you.

0.0 | BMDrummer | July 17th 14 | A more Discharge-like twist on the Deafheaven sound. It contains the blackgaze, but at the same time it seamlessly blends crust and metalcore into the mix. One of the most dissonant albums I've heard all year, check it out.

4.0 excellent | PortalofPerfection | June 7th 14 | What really sells me on this is how atmospheric it is, without relying on synths or
incredibly long tracks. Much like Gorgut's brilliant Colored Sands, it achieves a
striking presence simply through the tenacity of its instrumentation, the intelligence
of it's song writing, and a penchant for creating sounds, mostly with the guitars, that
are just a little bit different than anything you've heard before. The punky elements
add a bit of dare I say fun to an otherwise dark and smothering sound, and some of
the post-metal tones feel like they should be out of place, but aren't at all. Eris is a
shining example of a band that knows itself really well and wants you to take time to
get to know them.
