Well, shit. A month later and every single song from this is relentlessly stuck in my head. My first impression was pretty tepid too, but this is probably the biggest grower I've heard in quite some time.

It sounds so weak. The vocals can't shine due to the recording style (They recorded it start to finish in one evening) and everything sound so dead or empty... like they were half asleep. Tragic Thrill does sound great, but even that song sounds so sleepy. Which coming from the bombastic excellence of S/T and The Church of Rock and Roll is a huge step backwards.

I can't get over how idiotic this band name is (at least most members have a stupid look to match). I didn't like
the music much, but Google image search has completely dissuaded me from giving them more of a chance.

Gonzo caught me by surprise as I was expecting it to follow the sounds of The Church.. but in a more consolidated way. To their credit, they were not afraid to leave the hard/glam rock image and follow their instinct. However, some basic elements lack of substantive quality: production is flat, music is uninspired and there is no apparent groove/rhythm to drive the songs. Out of the nine songs I would pick as best moments: "Have The Fun", "Shoebox", "Brutal Truth"

Yeah, this isn't Church or s/t, but it's definitely not a 2.7 composite. This is a more subdued Foxy, but it's still catchy as all hell. It's a grower, for sure. I wasn't overly impressed on my first listen, but it's definitely a nice, short burst of chilled out poppy rock.
