As soon as I realized these were the ones that made Kveldssanger I got excited. I loved that album. This one was totally different but just as good. I really loved the mixing of so many genres, so I was basically listening to jazzified ambient electronica at points. It was all over the place in an awesome way. The best of it, to me, would be Lost in Moments, Porn Piece or The Scars of Cold Kisses, The Future Sound of Music, and Dead City Centres. Basically all the ones where they experimented and used weird combinations and styles. But overall just a lot of win.

Atmospherically, Perdition City is reminiscent of a great concrete city bathed in dark, with the occasional beam of moonlight shining through. Musically, it is a unique blend of electronica, trip-hop, avant-garde, jazz, and probably at least ten more genres that I don't know the names of. Needless to say, this is a very unique record; it is also Ulver's first non-black metal record that really satisfies (though it isn't flawless-- the last two tracks don't do much for me). Particularly, "The Future Sound of Music" and "Porn Piece or the Scars of Cold Kisses" are two of Ulver's best songs. Perdition City is a fantastic record.

I was digging this album even more than Themes From William Blake, but the tracks We Are Dead, Dead City and Catalept were a tad too much on experimental soundtrack mode.

On this, they managed to sort some of the issues their drone/trip-hop sound debut had - less fillers, no killers. It's a good disc, yet the whole 'cinematic landscape' does not enthrall as much as it should.

I love the sounds on this album, they sound so futuristic yet ancient. The piano lines and the smooth jazzy beats are fantastically arranged. This is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite Ulver album
