Moontower is undoubtedly one of the best progressive albums I've heard. Dan Swano is so laid back and calm, but his compositions are so epic and engaging. Instead of kicking your ass, this album instead gently caresses it with loving hands, before gently entering your backdoor with a velvet penis.

i just got this album and what can i say. its very very good. it is what progressive death metal should sound like. this album and opeths discography are amongst the best. dan swano uses calm, atmosheric (also fast) keyboards and mixes them with heavy riffs that flow like the nile river. the drums fit well and add great depth. the bass is heard rather well and serves us some groovy bass lines. now theres swanos vocals, very similar to akerfeldts. hes what puts the death in the prog death metal genre that what is this album. ive listened to this 3 times since i got it in the mail today. im glad i ordered it cuz im sure it will be a classic album to look back on in the future. there is no weak song on the album and its worth a listen to any music lover. just changed the rating to 5 today. love this album

Fantastic record.. although the flippin' keyboard is way too high in the mix. If the keyboards would have been toned down a bit this would be an even better record.

Death growls have never been so catchy. Moontower accomplishes the seemingly insurmountable feat of blending progressive death metal with pop sensibility (and prominent synthesizers) without becoming cheesy. The songwriting is first class ("Sun of the Night," "Uncreation," "Add Reality") and the musicianship is fantastic; which is even more impressive when it is considered that Swano played every instrument. Fans of Opeth would do well to check this out.

I think I read that Dan Swano wanted this to sound like if Rush was a death metal band and he came pretty damn close here. Think Edge of Sanity with some synthesizers. Any fan of Progressive Death Metal or just Death Metal in general should probably check this.
