Sonny Moore's bizarrely-produced intentions are literally mind-boggling. On his debut album Recess, much of the material Skrillex has to work with should've been at least somewhat commendable with a few more strikes than critical evasions. Instead, even with the record's considerate length clocking in at 46 minutes, this EDM product is like a massive, tiresome chore that ends up lathering, rinsing, and repeating itself to the point of being labelled as a pretentious Groundhog Day loop.

This was honestly my worst experience with skrillex. Right from the start "all's fair in love and brostep" is terrible. self-awareness really only works when your music backs it up. "ragga bomb" gets an dishonorable mention as well. still can't believe it took him so long to drop an lp and it sucked this bad.

Skrillex's attitude behind this album is a puzzle. His intent: to make a fun, dance album. The Result?: he disassembles what made him somewhat interesting to begin with in the beginning, and makes his debut album a weak attempt at doing something new.
