7.9/10... People hate this, damn. I liked most of the tracks, yeah the production's bad..... But the lyrics and deliveries at most parts are appreciably good enough.

Nastradamus isn't really that bad. By which I mean to say: of course it's bad, just not that bad. Mostly, it's just really, really boring. It's kind of ironic that the line that best describes the bad qualities of the album is on its best song, "Project Windows". John Isley, who delivers perhaps the albums only halfway decent hook, sings "Lookin' out of my project window, oh, I feel uninspired." Nas is asleep at the wheel on the vast majority of this material, offering very little in the way of flows, lyricism, and charisma, especially on the numerous meandering, or just plain stupid, hooks. There's only a few songs here that one would describe as awful or asinine, those being "Shoot 'Em Up", "Big Girl", and "You Owe Me", which are all rightly infamous for their own reasons, but there's almost no material besides the aforementioned "Project Windows" that could make it on It Was Written, much less Illmatic. The one bright side of this album is that it serves as one of the poster children for why album leaks suck and don't do anyone any favors. It's a good thing that he'd get his career back on track later, because if he continued doing stuff like this, ol boy would've been a walking punchline.

Never could understand how people would rate this a bad album with songs like Life We Chose, Project Windows, Some Of Us Have Angels, Come Get Me, Nastradamus, God Love Us, Family. Songs Like You Owe Me, Big Girl is not the Nas we know thats the reason some people over look this album & say its whack. But Nas lyrically did just as good as he did on It Was Written, Illmatic & I Am. My favorite Nas track on this album is hands down Life We Chose. Nas never put out a whack album.

Nas is to rap as Motley Crue is to hair metal. That is both groups made classics in there unlikely classic accepting genre's, but destroy there burgeoning legacy. This and "Hip Hop Is Dead" nearly murdered the legacy of Nas. An insipid record, and the only highlight is "Project Windows", which has touching raps and singing on the chorus.
