Rather homogeneous in it's sound yet capturing such a beautiful catharsis in music, Cope is a great record that is as easy to consume as a candy bar.

Despite lacking the immediacy of their previous two releases, Cope is still a damn fine record from Manchester Orchestra. This is probably their most consistently heavy album so far, but lacks in nuance, and way too many songs follow the same formula: heavy intro, low-key/usually palm-muted verses, and a big hook. They make it sound good for sure, but it becomes hard to distinguish certain tracks. There are still enough great melodies, hooks, solid guitar work and breakdowns to make this a keeper. Best songs are Choose You, The Mansion, The Ocean, Every Stone, All I Really Wanted, and Trees (basically the whole middle section).

Cope sees the band doing a straightforward rock album. While still being enjoyable it feels like a bit of a regression considering the heights they've reached in the past. My main problem is that some of it sounds similar with things getting lost in the guitars. All in all it's still pretty enjoyable.
