the same old bohren we've come to know and love, which unfortunately really isnt a good
thing. Theyve seemingly created such a niche sound for themselves that to break the mold
would be to betray their own style, which is a rather unfortunate for them.
however, i think there is room for them to grow, all they need to do is switch up their
sound palette. same style, different approach. i thought they had done it with this
release, but those wonderful, brooding synths take a very quick back seat to sounds we've
all heard before (double bass, piano, brushed snares, etc). it's still a good album, and
the track Segeln ohne Wind is one of the best in their catalog. its just all to familiar.
bohren, if you see this, please, keep playing those synths, and turn them up. they are the
sound you've been looking for.
