This album is an interesting experiment in the sense that Morbus Chron try to blend psychedelic/'70s rock with the repugnant death metal of outfits such as Autopsy. That being said, the album isn't as varied as people present it to be (the band's guitarist has said while being interviewed, that he knows about 5-6 riffs on the guitar and that's readily evident on the album). Moreover, a good portion of the songs are too loose-structured, and drag too long for their own good. Still, Morbus Chron's sophomore album deserves to be jammed from time to time, at least.

I have mixed emotions about this one: I liked half of the album (more or less), but the other half was basically boring or average. I think this is overrated.

I'm loving this so much. Groundbreaking prog/psych OSDM. I get the swedish school of DM with simply delightful practically acoustic moments. Really murked, like early Mastodon. On the verge of fiving. consecutive spinnings. replay value!

This album was a letdown after A Saunter Through The Shroud. I didn't gel with this at first and even now I still need to be in the right mood, since this cuts out almost all the savagery in place for a cleaner sound and some very poorly paced music that gets repetitive quickly. Sometimes the payoff for all their pot-boiling on this album isn't worth it, but other times it's just the ticket.

Musically this is really good. There are a diverse range of styles over the course of the album. I hear black metal, post metal, prog, etc. The vocals kill it for me though. No matter how many times I've tried, the throaty high pitched shout/growl/whatever is just too much.
