Is everyone's ears broken? I hear a solid, extremely well-produced psychedelic indie rock album. The songwriting here is great. I read critics say the dark subject matter doesn't match their colorful soundscapes. I find it funny considering Pumped Up Kicks was a pop song about a kid shooting students at school. Come on, listen again. They are really starting to sound like a complete band here instead of just a experimental dance project.

This shits on Torches (not to say that Torches was bad, because it's not) and is an extremely exciting step
forward for Foster the People. They sound like a goddamn BAND now.

Reminiscent of The Killers' Hot Fuss, or maybe even Day & Age in some places, FTP have stepped it up tenfold from their first release with their new album Supermodel. Rich in melody and catchy pop beats, the band is making a statement that they are here to stay, despite their failings in the past.

Whether it's the bright, bouncy sound of songs like Best Friend, the quick pace of Ask Yourself, or the comfortingly quiet Fire Escape, Supermodel is Foster the People doing all they can, and it shows.
