4.5 superb | Iai EMERITUS | December 5th 07 | Honestly? The best post-rock album I've ever heard. I know, I know....Godspeed and Tortoise and Slint and this lot are just young chancers and the innovators deserve the credit and whatnot. All of that acknowledged, there hasn't been a post-rock album that's hit me this hard, this instantly since the very first one I heard. That was Sigur Ros' (), way back in 2003, and I expect this to age much better than that. Even if you could quite rightly criticize Yndi Halda for not innovating and pushing the genre forward, the cold fact is that they do it so well that such a criticism is irrelevant. "Dash & Blast" is gorgeous throughout, and the inevitable climax is breathtaking. "We Flood Empty Lakes" is, if anything, better. I can't recommend this highly enough - you'd have to be incredibly jaded about the genre to not enjoy this.

0.0 | Motiv3 | January 30th 10 | So here it is: My favourite post rock album ever and what i consider to be the greatest post rock album ever produced. But what makes this album better than the likes of mono, godspeed, sigur ros and explosions in the sky? Quite simply put: this album doesnt drag, EVER.rFull of lusicious melodys, high crescendos, haunting violins and some of the best build ups ive ever heard in post rock, not one single instrument or melody which is out of place or doesnt feel right. Every single second of this album is worth while. Add that and then you have the single greatest moment ive ever heard in post rock around the 10 min mark of 'we flood empty lakes', a climax which never fails to make my spine tingle, my heart pound and make my legs feel weak in pure extascy, emotion and joy and then you have an album which may not be a pioneer or the most original post rock album out there but an album which is the cream of the crop in post rock.

4.5 superb | rokknroll4 | September 28th 11 | Take everything that Godspeed is known for and replace the desolate sadness with happiness and wonder. There you have Enjoy Eternal Bliss, a truly amazing and uplifting album. Might 5 this in time.

4.5 superb | Progmaster85 | January 30th 10 | An epic, drawn out, diverse piece of post-rock. One of the best bands in the genre, definitely over those overrated post-rock guys like Mogwai and or This Will Destroy You. The album is never boring and simply genius, very similar to Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

4.5 superb | Intransit | July 5th 07 | So as much as I hate to like some cliche post-rock, I end up doing it all the same on occasion. I could really drone on about how the album is filled with all of the qualities that make post-rock great, but read any Godspeed review to figure out what those are. Basically, this album carries an atmosphere of hopefulness and peaceful serenity that a lot of post-rock neglects. Granted, the generally upbeat atmosphere throughout the album makes for a short loss of dynamics, but its just so empowering that it's hard not to listen to this album with a smile plastered on your face. If nothing else though, check out "We Flood Empty Lakes"; it is arguably one of the best songs ever, with one of the most emotional crescendos I've ever heard at around the 9:45 mark.

5.0 classic | Poet | February 26th 10 | Best post rock album ever? It's pretty damn close with Mono's Hymn to the Immortal Wind. Four songs may seem too short, but with the shortest one being 12 minutes, we get a hell of a ride throughout. The 7:26 climax of Illuminate My Heart My Darling is probably the greatest thing ever and if you don't like it, well you pretty much suck. In fact, if you don't even like this album, well you're an Huge Idiot

4.5 superb | Wanker | June 7th 07 | When I heard this album for the first time, it gave me the feeling I had when I first listened to Explosions in the Sky's The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place. The feeling was the same and the sweeping dynamics apply to both albums, but Yndi Halda can somehow extend those boundaries of bombast and anticipation resulting in something that's not just another post rock album.

2.5 average | Gene Gol CONTRIBUTOR | July 4th 23 | Yndi Halda enjoyed limelight as the prime example of an inevitable crossover: post-rock with classical influences. In that regard, you will be amiss to think it is packed with crescendos to the point of being boring, as the album is in fact packed with meditative, long-winded build-ups to the point of being boring.

3.0 good | zaruyache | April 3rd 17 | Yndi Halda's oft-beloved debut may be an incredibly pretty example of string-filled crescendo-y post-rock, but it just feels homogeneous to me. It's like they took a half dozen different stereotypical post-rock-isms and stretched them all out into a sixty-minute record without deviating from the central style, adding new ideas, or experimenting at all. While some of the melodies are great, it all feels very "safe" and predictable. It's pretty, sure, but on repeated listens it just kind of sounds... dull. Which is weird given I love post-rock like this and apparently gave their second record ("Under Summer") a 7/10. Screw me, right?

4.5 superb | Alabaster Jones | December 4th 16 | Whatever you believe about post-rock, it's hard not to say that the standalone genre (without any input from drone, field recordings, ambient, etc.) met its logical conclusion long ago, even before this album was released. And though the band wears their influences (GY!BE, Mogwai, Explosions) right on their collective sleeves, the music on Enjoy Eternal Bliss is nothing short of evocative. It's beautiful and tear-jerking for the majority of the album, with the first three tracks being some of the best post-rock in the 21st century, especially the stunningly beautiful "Song For Starlit Beaches". Yet, the final song takes a turn for the melancholic and frustrated, ending the album on a less-than-triumphant note and a crescendo for the ages. This makes sense in the context of the album, in ones opinion, because one believes the album to be about the days before dying, in which you spend your final hours on earth with those you love and hold dear before turning to face unknown and terrifying void of death. It's life according to Yndi Halda, and life is a beautiful thing.

5.0 classic | UnnamedOcean | August 23rd 10 | Though it borrows heavily from GY!BE, the music found on Enjoy Eternal Bliss has a more pleasing orchestral feel, as opposed to the strange ambiance of work like Skinny Fists. The buildups are joyously beautiful and the melodies are unforgettable. While it is not perfect, per se, nor is it a classic, it is still deserving of a high amount of praise. One of the most genuine and heartfelt post-rock albums not by Godspeed.

4.5 superb | BigTuna | November 3rd 09 | Life-changing post-rock that will change your life. Second only to Eluvium's Copia (if that's post-rock) on my short list of essentials in the genre. Moving, grand, epic, depressing, sad, joyful, violiny, awesome. What have you. Just please listen.

I think it's an awesome band and the album is great as well, it has it's own sound. I love it!
