A very Strong Start, Weak Middle, Solid End.rSome very classic songs on here like Get Down, Made you Look, Last Real, I can, Dance, Heaven, Thugz Mansion, ETC.

After the release of a very successful return-to-form record in STILLmatic and the release of The Lost Tapes, a compilation of some excellent unreleased material, Nas was back in the drivers seat and his career back on track. Things would rarely dip as low as he did ever again, and most of the album's he'd release would be at the very least a quality listen. God's Son is one of those records, and though it is plagued by some inconsistency regarding the production and some subpar hooks here and there, it's got some awesome material on it. Take opener "Get Down" for example, as you can basically see the story unfold in front of you when Nas spins it. Or take penultimate track "Dance", an incredibly heartfelt and heartbreaking letter to his dead mother; Nas sings on the hook and it totally works against all odds. If the production here, still often piano or string-driven and sometimes boring had been more consistent in its quality, the album might've ranked among Nas' best. Still, it's not bad for what it is, and obviously fans of the man should give this a spin.
