Fundamentally speaking, Gym Class Heroes can immediately be likened to Fall Out Boy if Patrick Stump forced the latter band to take up more of a hip hop direction; by the way, Stump also produced this offering. As Cruel as School Children has certainly a bit to admire, though as a record, it's noticeably heavy on the filler and a decent amount of people will probably only want to hear the album for its singles.

Old School Hip Hop fused with an indie rock sensibility, proves that the materialism of Modern Gangsta rap might be overshadowed by this band and others of their ilk. Very impressive debut. Clever lyrics, and a funky guitar with a pretty solid rhythm section.

I love "Shoot down the stars."
And this group has a great sound in just about every song I've heard by them. Even the skits are alright, though I wish this album had more songs.

Hmm Cruel As School Children...what to say. It's an interesting, upbeat album featuring Travis Mccoy's witty lyrics and stories of love school and life. Best songs include The Queen and I, New Friend Request, 7 Weeks with William Beckett from the Academy Is...and Scandalous Scholastics. Fun album to listen to, if you enjoy good lighthearted funny rap with strong melody.
