4.5 superb | FadingEmbers | August 10th 23 | I view this record as a sequel to The Sound of Perseverance by Death, or even a version of it from an alternate dimension. The instrumentation, the guitar tone, and the lyrical content are all strongly reminiscent of it. The quality of the writing is right on par with the predecessor. What really makes this album different from Death's are Tim Aymar's vocals which could be compared to those of Ronnie James Dio. A voice that is gritty, yet elegantly carries the melodies. The guitars complement the vocals perfectly as Chuck Schuldiner and Shannon Hamm make them sing fast yet expressive riffs that lie somewhere between progressive and death metal. I recommend this album not only to Death fans, but to all fans of heavy music as there is something here for everyone.

4.5 superb | CrazyFool84 | August 31st 09 | It's unfortunately that there would be no follow-up to Control Denied's debut masterpiece (and a greater tragedy that frontman for Death and mastermind behind this band, Chuck Schuldiner would surcome to cancer related illness). In his final offering, Chuck attempts a more power-metal style, in the vein of Europe's metal sound. The result is a merging of the classic jazz-infused Death sound with the creme of the crop in power metal stylings. Chuck really managed to pull this one off, if you haven't discovered this gem yet, I highly recommend you do.

3.5 great | GamamJ | April 30th 20 | Instrumentally, this is easily at least a 4. I mean what else could you expect from Chuck?s playing and songwriting, Hamm (no slouch) doubling him, and DiGiorgio backing the pair? The vocals however are absolutely awful (to me). Insteumentally it is a slightly lighter Sound of Perseverance, so amazing, but the vocals...

4.0 excellent | AlphaZoey2008 | October 17th 17 | While it is a good album, The Fragile Art Of Existence has a few elements that don?t exactly fit. For example, the guitar leads aren?t as memorable as those on the Death albums, and I did notice some tonal issues. That aside, this is an enjoyable and interesting release. I just wonder what more experiments Schuldiner would have given us if he had still been around.

4.0 excellent | westerndragon | June 7th 16 | Everyone who thinks this is diet Death have only listened to it once or perhaps only partially. The Fragile Art of Existence is Chuck moving in a new direction for sure, but he still holds onto his uncanny skills as a songwriter to put real depth and excellent transitioning into each song. No, this album won't blow you away, but listen carefully and you can hear a very intricate album that is pleasing to hear no matter what your mood is. The lyrics are thoughtful reflections on a variety of themes and topics, and the solos are just as tasteful as ever. If you are at all a fan of Death or metal in general, please listen to this with open ears and keep the memory of Chuck Schuldiner alive!

4.0 excellent | Corde64 | March 29th 16 | Awesome and unique album. It really has it's own original sound and that is what separates great albums from excellent albums like this one IMO.

3.5 great | MaidenUFO | January 22nd 16 | The finale of the greatest visionary of metal could be better, as the album cannot reach the level of latest Death's albums. However, it is a very solid progressive metal record with excellent musicianship. My favorite songs here are probably the title track, "Breaking the broken", "Expect the unexpected" and "Consumed". RIP CHUCK!!!

4.5 superb | ScelusNefas | November 13th 06 | This is the last album by Chuck Schildiner on the market and one of his best, if not his est, in career. This is a progressive metal opus that breath. It's lighter than Death's albums but as technical as those one. The bass, played by DiGiorgio, is awesome, just like the drum plaed by Christy. The voice is a guess as always, some may hate it, some may love it.
The album title is pretty weird considering that this the last ting we get from him before his death. THE FRAGILE ART OF EXISTENCE
