I look at any record that potentially has the power to completely change the genre as a classic album. I believe this album completely raises the bar for emo and it immediately separates the wheat from the chaff in this over-saturated genre. They aren't really that popular, even in the scene (or so it seems); they seem like highly ambitious and curious underdogs surrounded by paint-by-numbers twinkly bands. This isn't just emo, you can hear so much more in it; there is a poetry to this record.

Very nice emo/math rock/post-rock album. I still think it's their "weakest" release but it's nonetheless solid.

Ah, what a throwback to my most emo-appreciative times. Loved this when this came out. While 'The Medic' is the unquestioned highlight here and comes on quite early, the rest of the record does a mostly great job of mixing post-rock, ambient and emo vocals with some dashes of raspiness in various proportions. Especially the Dead Bee pair and the Quietus ehich closes the record quite well. The Medic remains one of my favorite songs, and the record is short and sweet, probably for a debut a generous 3.9

While Foxing does venture into the overly dramatic territory of other emo/indie bands, they do it in a way that is honest, tasteful and commendably theirs. The songs feel confessional in nature and they are delivered in a powerful manner. But the downfall of The Albatross lies in the fact that there is not much beyond the emotive bones of the album; it feels incomplete, somehow. 3.7/5

I'm literally addicted to this album. My newest obsession to say the least. The crescendo and decrescendo in this album is unbelievable. It's definitely noticeable with almost every song on the album.
