If he could have made an album full of songs like "Numbers on the Boards", "King Push", and "Nosetalgia" we'd have a stone cold classic on our hands. Instead, we get a good hip-hop album with some great songs on it, that is weighed down by more than a few duds.

Pusha T is one of the best modern rapper when it solely pertains to rapological technique, and My Name Is My Name indeed proves that. However, the beats are stuck in late noughties/early 2010s and boi does it SHOW.

Pusha T's 2013 LP showcases the former Clipse MC doing exactly what he's good at: spitting gritty drug-dealer raps over hard-knocking beats like those on "Numbers On The Boards" and "Pain." Pusha does fantastic on his own, but collaborators like Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and Pharrell help take this album to the next level and make it one of the year's best.

Take out most of the features here (save for Kendrick, Rick Ross (?!)), and you'd have one of the best rap records of the year. As is, it's about as stellar as one could have hoped for after all the delays that have plagued Pusha seemingly all his life.

Pusha T's solo debut is solid, containing enough tracks of decent flow and interesting beats to warrant a few listens. However, this album can be a bit of a bore at times, and he can sound like he's just bastardizing other peoples' flow and production. "Nostalgia" is easily one of the record highlights here. Overall, this is an album I'd definitely recommend to Pusha T fans, but it didn't QUITE win me over.
