Santana's debut album is a great mixture of influences stemming from the combination of Latin American tunes with late 60s/early 70s classic rock in the likes of The Beatles, Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Mexican-born guitarist Carlos Santana and the rest wild percussionists display clever musicianship and an unparalleled feel for groove throughout the record. The tracks in their majority are instrumental: exotic congas, jazzy drums rhythms and an attacking hammond organ, supported by Santana's eclectic guitar, garnishes everything with sweet melodies. Often, the major reference of this album is 'Evil Ways', but there is more than the single's charm if one wants to dive a bit deeper. Recommendations: "Evil Ways", "Jingo-Lo-Ba", "Soul Sacrifice".
